These Nat Kaplan casitas in Los Ranchos extend traditional adobe construction into smaller residential forms. Original earthen walls establish thermal stability, while new red top plaster and custom joinery defines interior transitions and built-in spatial elements.

The project engages New Mexico’s vernacular casita typology, where compact living structures work in tandem with the main house to establish a site footprint that activates and rhythmic procession between indoors and out.
